Designer turned writer after a forty-year career in spatial and interior design.

Brooke Fieldhouse began ‘dabbling in writing’ in 2007 and wrote first short story in 2012. Has had the following short stories published; The Gift - Warner Publications Writing Magazine prizewinner 2013, Fiction on the Web publications; The Landlords, After the Bombardment, The Good Life 2014, The Art of Ownership 2015, Drowning by Numbers, Open House 2016, The Magic Carpet, Raw Concrete 2017, Crossing Over 2018.

After the Bombardment also selected - 54 out of 1000 titles - for paperback anthology The Best of Fiction on the Web 2018 published by Charlie Fish. The Russian Doll 2014 and Collage 2015 - Park Publications prizewinner Scribble Magazine (ISSN 1465-6361). Short stories shortlisted for Fiction Factory prize 2019 and longlisted in 2020.

Brooke has co-edited The Friargate Anthology with Janet Dean published by Quacks Books Ltd (ISBN 978-1-904446-68-2) a charity project which contains the pieces; The Bonfire of the Vanities, and The Enchanter 2015.

Brooke received mentoring from 2009 to 2014 from The Literary Agency and Cornerstones. Has been a residential student on an ARVON course 2013 held at Ted Hughes' house at Heptonstall, Writers Workshop & Faber & Faber events at York Uni 2014, The Writer Within 2015 held at the Madhyamaka Kadampa Meditation Centre at Pocklington...attended the York LitFest 2013,14,15,17,18,19, 22, 23 read work from the Friargate Anthology at the 2016 York LitFest.

Taken part in a community writing project Write-a-Wish working with care home residents and care assistants (featured in York Press) and several writers workshops, and co-tutored the Scribe Project with the York Hut.

Brooke has written over 100 in depth book reviews (40kww) posted on Amazon. Brooke is a paid-up member of ALCS, The Society of Authors, and Brooke's current library titles are registered with PLR. You can also find him on LinkedIn

Brooke's fictional writing style is hard to pin down, though frequently leans toward Magical Realism.
